A Recap of Our Diversity & Inclusion Seminar(Creating an Inclusive Future: Embracing Diversity in Workplace).

On February 8, 2025, AIMK’s Sampark Club hosted a powerful seminar on Diversity & Inclusion, featuring Ms. Mahua Banerjee and Dr. Saikat Maitra. The session was an eye-opener, addressing the biases that shape workplaces and society at large.

The event began with thought-provoking performances by the Sampark Club, highlighting “Interview Bias” and “Lunch Table Bias.” These acts exposed how prejudices operate subtly yet significantly, influencing hiring decisions and workplace interactions.

Following this, Ms. Mahua and Dr. Maitra led an impactful discussion on how patriarchy and discrimination persist across cultures, affecting women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and even men. They spoke about women being pressured into motherhood, body shaming, and the struggles LGBTQ+ individuals face in securing jobs. They also pointed out how men are restricted by patriarchal norms, with stereotypes like “boys can’t be homemakers.”

The seminar sparked important conversations and deep introspection, making it a resounding success shedding light to not just discussing change but driving it forward for a better more inclusive and equal future
