Eligibility criteria
Applicants, who have appeared in CAT-2024 can apply for the MBA Programme of Army Institute of Management, Kolkata(AIMK). Minimum qualification for admission to the MBA programme is Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 50% marks, recognized by the Association of Indian Universities.
The institute also considers applications from candidates, who have appeared in JEMAT-2025, in the event of seats remaining vacant after exhausting all the CAT applications received. Notification regarding admission through JEMAT-2025 will be published separately on AIMK website. For admission through JEMAT-2025, the candidates must have valid JEMAT-2025 Rank card and Allotment card from MAKAUT to get direct admission to the MBA programme of AIMK. Candidates should ideally be completing all requirements for Bachelor’s degree by 30 June 2025. Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally and will be required to produce evidence to establish their eligibility by 31 August 2025. Those, failing to comply with the above criteria, will have to withdraw from the programme.
Eligibility of the applicants under the Army Category
The admission to the AIMK, a constituent college under AWES, is for the children of eligible serving Army personnel, eligible ex-Army personnel and war widows of the Indian Army. The children of the following categories of Army personnel are eligible and they are required to submit the relevant certificate as given against the category applicable to them as proof of their eligibility for admission along with the Application Form :-
The applicants must belong to any one of the following categories:-
(a) Children of Serving Army Personnel, Retired/ Released/ Discharged/Killed in action/ Died During Service/ Disabled in Action/ Medically Boarded out with Pension (Submit Certificate No 1):-
(i) Children of serving Army personnel with a minimum 10 years of continuous service in the Army
(ii) Children of ex Army personnel granted/ awarded regular pension, liberalized family pension, family pension or disability pension at the time of their superannuation, demise, discharge, release medical board/ invalided medical board. This includes wards of recruits medically boarded out and granted disability pension.
(iii) Children of ex Army personnel who have taken discharge or released after 10 years of service.
(b) Adopted/ Step Children and Children of Remarried Widows (Submit Certificate No 2):-
(i) Adopted Children of Army personnel, if adopted at least five years prior to seeking admission.
(ii) Step Children are eligible provided they are born from a wedding where at least one parent belonged to the Indian Army who is otherwise eligible.
(c) Eligibility Criteria in Special Cases (Submit Certificate No 3):-
(i) Eligibility Criteria for Children of Ex Army Medical Corps Officers/ Army Dental Corps Officers Presently Serving with Indian Navy or Indian Air Force (IN/ IAF). Children of only those ex-Army Medical officers/Army Dental Corps officers presently serving with Indian Navy/Indian Air Force who have served with the Army for at least 10 years.
(ii) Eligibility Criteria for Children of APS/MNS/TA Personnel:-
(aa) Children of APS personnel classified as ex-servicemen as per Government of India, Ministry of Defence letter No 9 (52)/88/D(Res) dated 19 Jul 89.
(ab) Children of those APS personnel who are on deputation and who have put in 10 years of service in the Indian Army.
(ac) Children of APS personnel, who are directly recruited into APS who have completed 10 years of service and of those who as per their terms and conditions of service, retired from APS without reversion to P&T Department after completing their minimum pensionable service of which 10 years was in the Indian Army.
(ad) Children of only those members of MNS who have 10 years service as regular members of MNS or are in receipt of pension from the Indian Army.
(ae) Children of only those TA personnel who have completed 10 years of embodied service
(Necessary certificates as given in the prospectus may please be attached along with the application. Please also mention the Para and Sub Para on the certificate under which you are eligible)

Application Process
Candidates desirous of seeking admission to AIMK need to fill in the Online Application Form. Please visit Admission Menu and from the drop down click Apply Online sub-menu. Filling the Online Application Form is mandatory. You are requested to pay the application fees and keep your documents (softcopy) ready before filling of the Online Form. The list of documents are available below. Wards of Personnel from Indian Army, Indian Navy & Indian Air Force need to pay Rs 500/- and applicants from other backgrounds need to pay Rs 600/- towards application fees.
N.B. The above-mentioned application fees is non-refundable
Candidates, who have appeared in CAT & have applied to AIMK, would be called for Group Discussion & Personal Interview (GD & PI).

- Photocopy of PPO (In case of ward of retired Army Person)
- DSC Personnel should attach PPO for the proof of previous Army Service

Group Discussion - Personal Interview (GD-PI)
All eligible candidates with valid CAT-2024 scorecard will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. If the GDPI is conducted in offline mode at AIMK campus, the candidates will have to meet their own travel expenses and cater to their own boarding and lodging. Notification regarding the mode of GDPI will be notified to the applicants via email.
After the GDPI process is over, the candidates will be notified regarding their status in the merit list via email. The GD-PI is usually conducted every year in February/ March. The exact dates will be communicated individually through email to the registered email-id of the candidate. The candidates have to produce all original documents (uploaded in the admission form) on the day of GDPI if the same is conducted in offline mode and will have to submit the photocopies of the above mentioned documents, after verification, to the admission office.
Selection
Selected Candidates will be intimated through emails only. They will be required to pay a sum of Rs 60,000/- as seat booking amount through ERP payment portal. The amount will be adjusted against the tuition fees, which has to be paid at the time of registration including fees of 1st Semester once the candidate is admitted.
Refund Policy in Case of Withdrawal
In the event of a student/ candidate withdrawing before the start of the course or any date specified by the AICTE/ MAKAUT, the entire fee collected from the student, after a deduction of the processing fee of not more than Rs 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) shall be refunded/ returned by the institution. If a student leaves after joining the course and if the vacated seat is consequently filled up by another student by the last date of admission, the institution will refund the fee collected after a deduction of the processing fee of not more than Rs 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) and proportionate deductions of monthly fee and proportionate hostel rent, where applicable. In case the vacated seat is not filled, the institution will refund the security deposit and return the original documents.
The refund policy, as mentioned above, is as per AICTE/MAKAUT/AWES guidelines & the latest ruling would be effective.
