14th MAY 2022: The Department of Corporate Relations, Training and Placements of the Army Institute of Management, Kolkata (AIMK) conducted a successful panel discussion on the “EXPECTATIONS OF CORPORATE FROM MBAs IN A VUCA WORLD” in Tagore Auditorium at AIMK campus in Rajarhat, Newtown, Kolkata.

Distinguished panel members Subhasis Mitra, Executive Director, RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group; Ms. Madhubani Sengupta, VP & Head- Knowledge Services, ICRA Analytics Ltd.; Sudip Dutta, Partner & Leader Urban Sector, Ernst & Young LLP; and Dr.Chandrima Banerjee, Director & Co-Founder, Unigrow Solutions Pvt Ltd shared their insights on future career planning for MBA students. The panel discussion was moderated by Dr. J. N. Mukhopadhyaya, an eminent faculty in business domain, lucidly anchored an enriching interaction between the panel members and the participating students.Â

During his opening remarks, the Patron of the Industry 4.0 Summit and Director, Army Institute of Management, Kolkata, Maj Gen V S Ranade (Retd.) shared his thoughts on the importance of commitment, integrity, hard work to the students, he said in this jungle you have to be the master to tackle problems with right attitude, also be optimistic and be ready for surprises in corporate world as no one is waiting for you, out there you have to make space for yourself and emphasised that there is no shortcut to success.

Mr. Mitra emphasised upon right attitude and effective communication as the prime expectations of corporate and to have genuine respect for people below you in corporate, while Ms. Madhubani Sengupta highlighted that if one can continue to learn – unlearn -relearn it ensures definite survival in the corporate world. She focused that attitude of a person is important with a constant hunger to learn, she urged everyone to have expertise in some areas, with a clear vision of what we want to do, as there is no space of mediocrity in the corporate world.

Mr. Sudip Dutta mentioned that corporate expects experiential learning over curriculum-based learning, which implicates learning more from the outside world would definitely help MBAs in near future. He said every change is an opportunity not a threat, so get out of the comfort zone, Corporates today only search for solution providers and those who can develop strategies and MBAs are amongst those who develop strategies.

Dr.Chandrima Banerjee stated that the corporate wants to hire people who are focused and clear about their objective and core strengths. She shed light on importance of managing self and managing people and motivated everyone to join, learn, upskill and be a Part of solution.

Dr. J N Mukhopadhyay Spoke on the evolution of Industrial Revolution 1.0 to Industry 4.0 furthermore explained the exponential change in the landscape of business continues to stress upon new and continuous learning in the VUCA world.

The Summit was concluded with distribution of mementos, token of gratitude, closing remarks by Gen Ranade Sir followed by a vote of thanks, and a huge round of applause.
