Army Institute of Management Kolkata (AIMK) and Bharathidasan Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (BIM Trichy) signed an MoU on 9th March 2023 to have faculty/student exchange programs, conduct joint MDPs, engage into collaborative research and execute joint projects in disciplines of mutual interest and competence. Dr AsitBarmaDirector BIM Trichy and Major General V S Ranade (Retd) Director AIMK signed the MoU.
On the occasion of signing the MoU, Director AIMK said, “established in 1997 AIMK is a welfare initiative of the Army for the wards of serving and retired Army personnels who are doing their national duty. It aims at providing a level playing field for these children. The educational institutes grow with compatible collaboration with sister educational institutes and thereby making their presence felt in the corporate sector. We are delighted and look forward to a fruitful and engaging partnership with BIM Trichy. We intend to contribute towards excellent educational forays made by BIM Trichy with the state government. Joint cooperation by both the institutes will expand the footprint of both the institutes and will be beneficial for the students and take our educational prowess to next level”.Â
Dr AsitBarma, Director BIM Trichy said, “I am delighted to sign the MoU with the Army Institute of Management Kolkata. Established in 1984, BIM Trichy is one of India's oldest and premier business schools. The new business order brings a paradigm shift in value creation. In a platform economy, organizations grow by creating network value through orchestrating resources outside the system rather than optimizing internal resources. Through our partnership with AIMK, we intend to expand our footprint to Eastern India and tap the defense sector in collaborative research, consultancy, and conducting MDPs. At the same time, we can open access to our Real-Time Contextual Marketing Lab, Financial Trading and Analytics Centre, Centre for Operations Excellence, and Centre for Sustainable Development, where we engage in many pioneering initiatives. Being the academic partner of the Tamil Nadu Govt to conduct the TN CM’s Fellowship program, we would also be eager to share our expertise with the state governments in the Eastern part of India for a similar kind of contribution. AIMK can be a platform to tap into this vast potential”.
MoU signing event was conducted in the Manekshaw Hall of AIMK and was attended by faculty and staff members of both the institutions and students of AIMK. MoU signing was followed by a lively interaction over tea among all present. Dr Abhishek Kumar, Principal, AIMK said on the MoU that “time has come to join forces with institutions that present an alternate view of management education, different from the position taken by Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs) a position that is rooted in the ethos of local culture and draws from a distinct way of life, in this case Tamil Nadu and Indian Army”.Â
