During auspicious celebration of “Danteras” in AIMK; we honoured Lieutenant Navdeep Singh Bains, a decorated soldier in the Indian Army and alumni of Army Institute of Management(MBA -11) awarded with Ashoka Chakra, India's highest military decoration for valour, for his extraordinary acts of courage and selflessness in the line of duty. Born in a small village in Punjab(Gurudaspur), Navdeep Singh turned off corporate job to become a gentlemen cadet at the Officers Training Academy. On March 19, 2011 he was commissioned into the Army Ordnance Corps.

On the fateful day of 20th August 2011, during an operation in the troubled region of Jammu and Kashmir, Navdeep's platoon came under heavy fire from a group of heavily armed terrorists. Despite being severely wounded, Navdeep refused evacuation and continued to lead his men in fierce combat. He single - handedly neutralized several terrorists, rescued his injured comrades, and ensured the safe withdrawal of his platoon.

However, during the evacuation process, Navdeep Singh kept firing till death. His sacrifice and bravery inspired his fellow soldiers and brought honor to the Indian Army. Navdeep's act of valor not only saved the lives of his men but also prevented further loss of innocent civilian lives in the region. Thus symbolizing a victory of good over evil.

Today, Navdeep Singh is remembered as a true hero who epitomized the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness. His actions serve as a shining example of what it means to be a soldier, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations of Indians to come.
