Workshop – risk management in banks
On 25th October 2019, 5 students of finance specialization along with Prof. Preeta Sinha got an opportunity to attend a workshop on Risk Management in Banks. It was organized by “Calcutta Business School” in their premises where a lecture was delivered on Risk management in banks by Mr Tamal Datta Chaudhuri, Dean of Calcutta Business School. He is also the writer of the book " Treasury Management" He started with the introduction of commercial banks and their significant role in the functioning of any economy, emphasized the prominent role of Banks as a catalyst for growth, and also explained the need to study the topic as banks are highly leveraged organizations which accept deposits from the public and take various kinds of risks while creating financial assets. They are thus exposed to various kinds of risks and therefore, the risk management methods are required to mitigate such risk. Risk Management techniques and tools that a bank can use for risk management were highlighted in the session. The regulatory guidelines in accordance with Basel framework was explained in detail by the speaker. Overall it was a very informative session which provided an insight into various risks the banks are exposed to and the risk-mitigating tools which are required to manage it.
Vigilance Awareness Week (28 Oct_2 Nov 2019)
Vigilance awareness week was observed in Army Institute of Management, Kolkata (AIMK). The event was organized on 1 November 2019. The event started with the Integrity pledge on Vigilance by all the employees (Teaching, Non-Teaching ) and all the students. It was followed by video competition and Poster making Competition on issues related to the eradication of corruption in the society in which students participated in the event overwhelmingly. The guest of honor was Ms Poonam Mundhra, proprietor of PM consultants which deals with corporate branding and Manpower solutions, took a session on Vigilance Awareness on 1st November 2019. She explained the reasons as to why the vigilance week is celebrated and focused on the needs and benefits of being a vigilant person. She emphasized the qualities required for systematic improvements for wider dissemination and awareness for leading a good lifestyle. It was indeed an interactive session which proved to sensitize the students on major issues related to vigilance.
La Creativitae: Inter College event by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan
“A good Ad isn’t an Ad that makes you think about it, a good ad is an ad that makes you want to go out and buy it.”On 19th of October, 2019, the Students of AIMK attended an Ad-mad fest – “La Creativitae” organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science, Kolkata. More than 10 colleges across Kolkata region participated in the event. The event focused on different aspect of advertising medium which has an informative effect on the consumers.  Our student showcased their advertisement skills in various ad competitions and secured winner positions in Airpush (the Radio Ad) and Digi-Bharat (the Social Media Ad). It was a great learning experience for all the participants as they got an opportunity to exchange new ideas.
APL
APL - AIMK Premier League, is an annual intra-college cricket tournament held between six teams every year at the premises of Army Institute of Management, Kolkata. Like any cricket tournament, the players were categorized into batsmen, bowlers, wicket-keepers, and all-rounders. The interested cricket players got themselves registered and on 16 September the players were auctioned. Each team had to have two Marquee players with a minimum of eight players in total. The six teams that were formed were AIMK Warriors, Royal Boombuds, The Overloads, Rising Stars, Ravaging Royals, and Mad Titans. The matches were spread over ten days, starting from 08 September 2019 to 18 September 2019. The winner of the league was Royal Boombuds, with The Overloads as the first runners up and The Rising Stars as the second runners up. Apart from the main trophies, prizes were distributed to the Best Bowler, Man of the Tournament and the Best Batsman on 26 September by the Administrative Officer of the Institute.

The institute marked its presence at XAVIESTA : The dawn of inception ,which is an inter B-school fest of Xavier Business school. The team AIMK secured various laurels, it secured 1st position in Basketball (boys)

2nd position in Games of chord( Duet)
Overall, it was a great learning experience for all the participants
PMI West Bengal Chapter Meet
#PMIWBC(PMI West Bengal Chapter) celebrated the 50th Anniversary of #PMI yesterday at Calcutta Club. The event began with citing the journey of PMIWBC from its initial days of inception and the chapter achievements and milestones attained over the years -narrated by the Chapter President Sumit Sinha and Ex Board member Sonali Bhattacharya. Debashis Biswas - Local Host - LinkedIn Local Kolkata, one of the Keynote Host Speaker presented the upcoming roadmap of the chapter and its prime objectives of building a synergy among the various industry domains in align with #PMI. Members from HR Sampark community, ISTD- Indian Society Training and Development, and many other top representatives of various industry sectors were present in the event. There was an interesting Panel Discussion aka Adda Session with three of the Keynote Guest Speakers namely, Rupak Barua - Group CEO & Director, AMRI Group of Hospitals, Ritabrata Bhattacharya - Film Director and Journalist, A.K.Sapra - Major General VSM, each belonging from a contrasting industry background. The discussion was focused upon the various challenges faced in the domain of Healthcare, Defence and Media industry and the application of Project Management skills and it's prospective opportunities in the respective fields. The event concluded with the cake cutting ceremony and of course the sumptuous spread of dinner. #PMI50
Teachers Day Celebration, 2019
“The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves” were the words of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who apart from being former president was an exemplary teacher and a great philosopher. This year on his birthday ,i.e, 5th September, AIMK celebrated teachers day with high spirit and gratitude towards the teaching and non teaching staffS, who have dedicated their time, knowledge and energy to shape the career of each student who are part of the college.
MBA 23 Fresher’s Party & Fresher’s Match (Seniors v/s Juniors)
Fresher’s party was organized by student affairs and institute social responsibility coordinators. In theme party MBA 23 students dressed up in their favourite cartoon characters with special performance fillers. At the end of the event, MBA 22 batch passed on their traditional titles to the deserving students in junior batch. Lastly, MBA22 batch gave their acceptance to MBA 23 batch as juniors. The eventful day ended with the DJ party organized in campus.
Different traditional sports event were conducted in the campus before fresher's party. On 29th Football & basketball and on 30th volleyball & table tennis matches happened between the teams of MBA 22 & MBA 23. The enthusiasm of the newly joined batch was high and the sports spirit was visibly noticeable between the players.
Ganesh Puja Celebration, 2019
Unlike every year this year also we welcome Lord Ganesha to the campus, the air is filled with joy and happiness. In sync with the beginning of the academic sessions of both the batches, the starting could not have been more humble. With all the colors and the vibrance of the campus is all set to host Lord Ganesha and looking forward for the blessings!

The students of AIMK attended a session organized by NGO "Child Rights and You" on occasion of nutrition week, under the guidance of our esteemed faculty member Prof. Preeta Sinha Ma'am. It was held in government high school, Mominpur where the students of AIMK educated and spread awareness to the children about their hygienic eating habits and the importance of keeping the surroundings clean. Also, they were taught different ways to prevent communicable diseases such as typhoid, plague etc. by means of attractive posters made by the AIMK students.
